Save your Pokemon Go candies as these 12 Pokémon are getting an evolution once Gen 2 is released

Pokémon GO Gen 2 is on the way, and snippets of information have been appearing here and there as it edges nearer to our phone screens. This might be the most exciting news yet: apparently, there’ll be a total of twelve Gen 1 Pokémon that you’ll be able to evolve into Gen 2 Pokémon, once it releases.

Take a look below, and get a move on, those candies won’t collect themselves. We’ll be listing the new Pokémon in alphabetical order, so if you’ve got a certain one in mind, you’ll have no trouble seeing whether it made the cut or not.

Bellossom is an evolved form of Gloom, and Gloom’s an evolved form of Oddish. Most likely, seeing as it’s a third stage evolution, you’ll be wanting 100 Oddish candies to make the jump.

Vileplume is another possible third stage evolution, and it’s already in the game; we’re not quite sure as of this moment how you’ll decide, or even if you’ll be able to decide on which final evolution you will end up with. Maybe the process will be random, as was the case with evolving Eevee.

Blissey is Chansey’s evolved form, and although she looks pretty much the same, if only a little bigger, she’s a good bit more powerful. Seeing as it’s only a second stage evolution, you’ll most likely be looking at 50 candies – but we could be wrong. Anyway, ignorance is bliss (sorry, had to).

Crobat will be a third stage evolution for those pesky Zubats that are nigh-on impossible to catch, especially if you’re shit at Pokémon GO like I am…

Crobat will be an evolution of Golbat, which is an evolution of, of course, Zubat. Seeing as it’s a third stage evolution, and the Zubat to Golbat transition was 50 candies, 100 candies sounds about right this time around. Start saving now, and you’ll be ready to go right off the bat (see what I did there?).

Joining our friends Vapereon, Jolteon, and Flareon, we have Espeon. Espeon will be another evolution for Eevee, and it’s unknown whether there’ll be any sort of naming and evolving easter egg just yet, like with Espeon’s Gen 1 friends. We’ll keep an eye out.

Also coming to Gen 2, we’ve got Hitmontop. He’s a second stage evolution for Tyrogue, who isn’t actually in Gen 1. Currently, it’s unknown how you’ll be obtaining this one, but it’s probably got something to do with Tyrogue’s other two evolutions, Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan.

Honestly, Kingdra is probably one of the most awesome sounding Pokémon names I’ve heard so far. Kingdra is an evolution of Seadra, who’s an evolution of Horsea. Therefore, you’ll be looking at 100 candies most likely, as it’s a third stage evolution, and evolving from Horsea to Seadra was 50 candies.

Porygon2 is, you guessed it, an evolution of Porygon. It’s an extremely fitting name, don’t you think?

It’ll need 50 candies to level up, unless we’re missing something – after all, it’s still a second stage evolution.

An evolved form of Poliwhirl (sort of) this’ll likely set you back 100 candies. We say sort of because it wasn’t quite an evolution, back in the day – rather, you needed to trade a Poliwhirl whilst holding a King’s Rock. It shares space with Poliwrath, the other third stage evolution for Poliwag.

Scizor’s the evolved form of Scyther, and he’s worth the effort simply because of how incredibly awesome he looks. The process of obtaining it was a little complicated back in the old games, and hopefully this time around it won’t be the case. He’s a second stage evolution, and you’re probably gonna need 50 Scyther candies to do the job.

Slowking is Slowbro’s evolved form, and seeing as he’s a third stage evolution, you’ll once again be needing 100 candies. (Most likely, anyway.)

It’s unknown whether the new Pokémon will be receiving power boosts or anything, hence upping their candy costs. We’ll see, soon enough.

Steelix is a giant snake type rock looking thing, essentially. He’s the evolved form of Onix, and he’s a second stage evolution (again), so you’ll probably be needing 50 candies to get your hands on him.

That shouldn’t be too hard. Just keep an eye out for any Onix you might run across.

And finally, we reach the end of our list. Welcome Umbreon, which is another Eevee evolution, and you’ll probably be looking at around 50 candies, seeing as it’s a second stage evolution. How exciting, we’ll be able to have a mini Eevee army come Gen 2’s release.

And that’s all twelve of the upcoming evolutions to be available in the Gen 2 update for Pokémon GO. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for any announcements regarding them, and regarding Gen 2 overall.

‘Pokemon Go’: Updated Buddy Distances for Generation 2 & Generation 1

Published Feb 17, 2017 at 3:42am

Pokemon Go Buddy Changes (Niantic)

Now that Pokemon Go has introduced Generation 2 Pokemon, a lot of changes are happening in the game, including changes to movesets, candy rewards, and even the distance you need to walk a Buddy Pokemon in order to get candy. Here are the changes that trainers have noticed so far related to how Buddy Pokemon work. We will update this story as more information is available.

Trainers on Reddit’s The Silph Road community have been pooling their resources to figure out which Buddy candy distances have changed and what the distances are for Generation 2. Here are preliminary findings on the Buddy walking distance needed to get one candy for Generation 2, as compiled by Redditor johnivan-cosmo on The Silph Road. These are preliminary findings, as they come from a self-reported spreadsheet and still need to be confirmed. Do these match what you’ve seen so far?

1 km Generation 2 Pokemon Buddies

3 km Generation 2 Pokemon Buddies

5 km Generation 2 Pokemon Buddies

In addition, some changes have been noted for Gen 1 Buddies, but many more will likely still be discovered. Some of the changes reported early on February 16 were due to temporary glitches in the game, while some appear to be more permanent. Here are just a few changes noted in Gen 1 so far:

  • Machop has dropped from 3 km to 1 km (but Machoke has stayed the same) (However, some trainers are saying this was a bug.)
  • Abra needs only 1 km per candy now, but Kadabra needs 3 km per candy

Some trainers are speculating that the Buddy candy changes for Gen 1 are related to the evolution changes. Some evolutions give more candy (such as second evolutions giving five candy and 300 stardust, and third evolution giving 10 candy and 500 stardust.) This might account for some Buddy changes.

Other trainers have looked at the Pokedex and are guessing that we might be seeing some new perks for Generation 2 buddies. On Reddit, Splashycat noted that Blissey’s description says it will bring a lucky egg. And Murkrow says it has an interest in things that sparkle. Could these descriptions indicate special items these Pokemon might find as Buddies?

We will add more Buddy changes as they become available. If you see anything that isn’t listed in this story, let us know in the comments below.

Pokemon Go Adds 80 Generation 2 Pokemon, New Evolution Items This Week

UPDATE (2/16): The new Pokemon are now available to catch, and new avatar customization items and berries are also available.

Niantic and The Pokemon Company have announced that more than 80 new Pokemon are headed to Pokemon Go this week.

The new Pokemon come from the Johto region, originally introduced in Pokemon Gold and Silver, and can be encountered in the wild starting this week. Niantic is also adding new Evolution items for evolving Pokemon, as well as new purchasable outfit and accessory options for customizing your trainer.

New berries will also be introduced to aid in catching Pokemon. The new Nanab Berry will slow the movements of wild Pokemon, while the Pinap Berry will double the amount of candy earned from catching a Pokemon if the next ball thrown yields a successful catch. The new berries join the Razz Berries that were already in the game, which can be fed to a Pokemon to make them slightly easier to catch.

While a full list of new Pokemon isn’t available yet, Niantic specifically mentioned that Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile will be among the new additions. The new Pokemon coming this week join the initial set of Pokemon from generation 2 introduced to Pokemon Go in December, which included Togepi, Togetic, Pichu, Elekid, Smoochum, Magby, Igglybuff, and Cleffa.

A few of the new Pokemon and new berry types on display.

Today’s announcement arrives as the Pokemon Go Valentine’s Day event comes to a close, ending a week of double candy rewards and extended six-hour Lure Modules.

The news also ends months of speculation about the full Johto Pokedex appearing in Pokemon Go, following details datamined from previous updates. Additional features found from datamining, including shiny Pokemon variants, have not yet been officially announced.

'Pokémon Go' Gen 2 Egg Chart: New guides for hatching the baby Pokémon

How long do you have to walk to hatch those freaking Gen 2  Pokémon Go eggs and get some new Pokémon? These new  Pokémon Go egg charts may hold the answer.

Not being able to catch the baby Pokémon introduced by Gen 2 other than by hatching eggs is a pain in the ass, but some new data on Pokémon eggs in Pokémon Go can at least help you figure out which Gen 2 eggs to incubate first.

Editor's note: Please keep in mind that these charts were developed less than 48 hours after the Gen 2 update. The information may change as more data comes in from trainers and we will let you know as soon as it does.

The three baby Pokémon introduced by the 'Pokémon Go' Gen 2 update that you will require 10-kilometer eggs to hatch.   trouxones/The Silph Road

Pokémon Go Gen 2 egg: Which new Pokémon hatch from which eggs?

The Silph Road member trouxnes has put together a simple infographic that shows which Gen 2 Pokémon come from 2-kilometer, 5-kilometer or 10-kilometer eggs.

The toughest Pokémon to hatch will be Smoochum, Magby and Elekid. They all hatch from 10-kilometer eggs, according to this Gen 2 egg chart. Togepi and Pichu hatch from 5-kilometer eggs, while Cleffa and Igglybuff hatch from 2-kilometer eggs.

The same results have been reported by Silph Road member ShotgunMavericks01 , who also provided a reference guide for how many candies are required to evolve all of the new Gen 2 Pokémon.  Togepi requires 50 candies to evolve and the other baby Pokémon only require 25 candies, according to the data.

Pokémon GO updated to version 0.41.2 for Android and 1.11.2 for iOS

Pokémon GO is in the process of being updated to version 0.41.2 for Android and 1.11.2 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.

Catch Bonus: Trainers can earn a catch bonus for a Pokémon type as they catch more of a specific type.

Updated Gym Training: Trainers can now bring six Pokémon to battle at friendly Gyms. The CP of the Pokémon you are battling may be temporarily adjusted lower for your training session.

Egg & Incubator Screens: These will periodically update the distance walked without the Trainer needing to close and reopen the screen.

Pokémon Go guide: egg chart for hatching – all Pokemon inside 2km, 5km and 10km eggs

By Staff, 12/05/2017 16:01 GMT

If you don’t like surprises, here’s what you might find inside your pokémon egg.

Just like in the more traditional Pokemon games, the creatures in Pokemon Go can be caught in their natural habitat but also can be hatched from eggs by simply walking around. This is actually an incredibly useful method of finding some types of Pokemon in the game that can’t be found out in the wild quite so reliably.

On this page we break down absolutely everything you need to know about egg hatching – and then we detail every single Pokemon from both generation 1 (Red/Blue/Yellow) and generation 2 (Gold/Silver/Crystal) of the Pokemon featured in Pokemon Go, broken into sections. Within those sections gen 1 Pokemon are at the top and gen 2 Pokemon are the second lot in the chart. Let’s get to it…

Pokemon Go: Where to get Pokemon eggs and egg incubators for hatching

The first thing you’ll want to do to begin your journey as a Pokemon breeder is get your hands on an egg or two. To do that you’ll want to visit Pokestops. Pokestop drops are random, so don’t expect one every time, and the size egg that appears (more on this later) is also partially random but also influenced by your trainer/player level.

If you need more tips for Pokemon Go including more information on how to catch and evolve a variety of the beasts, be sure to check out the rest of our Pokemon Go guides.

Players begin their Pokemon Go journey with one egg incubator in their inventory. This one is orange and it’s a little bit special compared to other incubators – it has unlimited uses.

Other incubators are blue and are limited to three uses before they disappear from your inventory and each incubator can only carry one egg at a time. You’ll start out with few eggs, but if you’re regularly spinning Pokestops you’ll often find you have more eggs than incubators and will have to make hard choices on what to hatch.

You can buy additional incubators in the shop or receive them as a reward for levelling up. As you start to collect more eggs you might want to drop some pokecoins, real cash or both on a couple more to speed up the process.

The distance you cover applies to all of eggs that you have incubating, so have as many on the go as you can. You may want to do them in batches of equal distances, or mix and match to have a guaranteed new Pokemon regularly.

There are three types of eggs. Each has an attached distance requirement you have to meet before they hatch. Bear in mind that you can’t cheat by driving (unless you’re going at the speed of a milk float), so you’ll need to walk, cycle, or utilise some other form of really slow transportation to travel either 2km, 5km, or 10km to hatch them. The further the distance, the better the potential Pokemon that can come from that egg. More on that below:

Pokemon Go: What will hatch from your Pokemon egg?

The more common Pokemon are found in the 2km eggs, with the rarest in the 10km, while the largest variety can be found in the 5km eggs. Be sure to have your app open or you will have wasted all of that time in the fresh air for nothing. See what might pop out of your egg by consulting our handy list below:

3 great Pokemon Go map trackers that still work after the Generation 2 update

Whether you’re jumping back in after months away or haven’t stopped playing Pokemon Go since launch, you’re probably looking to catch as many of the 80 new Generation 2 Pokemon as possible. Sadly, Niantic has been shutting down third-party trackers left and right over the past several months, but there are still a few great apps available on iOS and Android to help you track down the new Pokemon.

Admittedly, these apps don’t quite live up to the standards of some of the earliest Pokemon Go map trackers (before Niantic started cracking down), but they should do the job. It’s also worth noting that these apps feature in-app purchases to either remove ads or to add additional features.

PokeTracker

Finally, a way to see exactly where Pokémon are hiding in Pokémon Go! Complete with filters and background notifications.

– Interactive map showing precise Pokemon locations

– View the locations of Gyms and PokeStops including controlling team and lures.

– Touch a pokemon to see it’s name, details about its location, share it with friends and get directions

– Notifications when a Pokemon spawn nearby – even if PokeTracker is in the background

– Filter the map to hide Pokemon you have already caught

PokeSensor

Scan for Pokemon in real time and see them on a map, all from your device! Scan up to 2000m radius to find every Pokemon that is hiding nearby.

PokeSensor lets you scan an area for Pokemon, showing you the exact location of each Pokemon. You can either scan your current location, long-press a point on the map to scan from there, or search for a location using the native search feature.

• Scan for nearby Pokemon from ANY location

• See IVs of all Pokemon on the map

• Customize scan distance and scan speed

• Pinpoint all Pokemon in scan area

• Scan up to 1000m radius

• Search for any location to scan from it, or long-press on the map to move your pin

• Clean, native interface and easy controls

Note that Pokemon Go doesn’t give us valid despawn times for Pokemon anymore unless that time is less than 90 seconds. Instead, the Pokemon will count up to 30 minutes and will then disappear from the map. This gives you a rough idea of how long the Pokemon has been there.

PokéFind/GO Tools

PokéFind is a crowdsourced, interactive map for Pokémon Go! We also provide tools to make sure you have the strongest set of Pokémon with our CP and IV calculators.

Need to catch some rare Pokémon in Pokémon GO? Use our tool to find them through user submitted sightings. We have over 10,000,000 submitted Pokémon locations.

– CP / Evolution Calculator: Find out your Pokémon’s CP before evolving it to make sure it is worth the candies!

– IV Calculator: find out how perfect your Pokémon is

– Map that shows all pokemon, gyms and pokestops around you. We have added a system to where you can filter only pokemon that are still around. Expired pokemon will be slightly transparent. We hope this new features provide accurate data to help you hunt down the pokemon you want!
